Newsletter March 2014

Newsletter March 2014

Hectic times. We all thought that things would be better now. That things would finally go our way. After so many struggles and so much pain. Well it is, but slowly. Now we are in a time of confusion. A time where things are finally becoming clear. Things that had to be said or done. It is not always appreciated. But it is necessary. There are arguments, severe rows, and harsh words. And people are reproaching each other. It is not always nice to hear what must be heard. And it is not always possible, or even good, to say it in a gentle way. For then the message may not be understood.

It is also a period where we are a bit self centred. It is all about us. About our future, our dreams, our pain, our hopes. A period of individualism. We have little compassion for our partners and for our friends. It will come. When things are clear. And when we know who we are. And see what we have to do. Then things will go in the right direction. The future, dear friends, is looming just over the horizon. So let’s get started. First by loving ourselves and then by loving the others, by loving the world. Just be patient please and be nice to each other. And if you are not patient then the Great Navigator up in the Spirit World will teach you to be patient. The hard way. As He or She did with me when I broke my little toe {PIC 01}.

Question

Dear friends. I have a question. I would very much like to know if you appreciate my monthly or sometimes two monthly newsletters. I am asking this because I had only two reactions on my last newsletter, which surprised me, for it was full of strange Orbs pictures and strange stories. Please know that for me it is almost two days works to make a newsletter like this one. Select the pictures, write all the subtitles, write the text and then ask my good friend Abraham to edit the newsletter and distribute it on my site and on Facebook. Altogether a lot of work, which I do with pleasure, if I know that you are enjoying it.

So  please let me know what you think dear friends and readers.

Special times

These are really special times. So much is happening. Spring is coming. Flowers are springing up from the ground. Our little Keukenhof along the River of Colours is in full colour. The trees are blossoming. People are preparing for the new season. Restaurants, museum, B & B’s are opening again. We start painting, renovating, gardening, and cleaning our houses.

And the world is in turmoil. Syria, Central Africa, Egypt, the Crimea, China. The world leaders coming together. Is the crisis finally over or will our financial systems finally explode. Or implode. When people loose faith in the banks and governments who haven’t learned much from the past.

Or will nature take over? Icy winters, severe drought, storms, rain, flooding, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis.

And then history. The 15th of March, a famous date. It is the Idus of March, the day that Julius Caesar was murdered. The 16th of March. It was exactly 770 years ago that the 225 martyrs of Montsegur, the Cathars, were burned alive. The 17th of March, St. Patricks day, the patron saint of Ireland and the first abbot of Glastonbury. March 21st, the spring equinox. So much is happening. Are you still with me? See {PIC 02}.

La Source/Les Labadous

Again much has happened. As usual. Joke and Franklin have been away for four weeks. Joke’s aunt suddenly passed away and left her house in Alkmaar full of dust and all kinds of curiosa, untouched for years. It required heavy cleaning, sorting things out, giving much away, and lots of paper work.

And again it was proven that the weather in Rennes-le-Chateau could be wonderful. Even in February and March. Clear skies, beautiful sunsets, some rain, mostly at nighttime. Good to work in the garden, clearing brambles. Turning over the fertile soil. Our dog Ruah is welcoming the spring. Our home emerald lizard is soaking up the sunrays. The river is happy and forceful. And Marijke is helping us for two weeks in exchange for free lodging. See {PIC’s 03 - 11}

My friends

I took my friend Kristina back to Toulouse. She had to go to Sweden for a while. But we had time to visit Le Pont du Diable, the ancient bridge over the River Ariege, just north of Tarascon-sur-Ariege. And she showed me the grotto where Jesus was sitting all alone in an ancient burial chamber. With a strange stone in front of the grotto, like hands lifting up the rock above. All in Baulou. Where the owners now have blocked the entrance to the grotto where Mary Magdalene is sitting. A pity but it can be understood, especially when people are not respectful to their property and the statue of Mary Magdalene.

With my friend Val we visited Carcassonne. Looking at the Canal du Midi, the Eglise de Carmes with the statue of de ND de Salette. Later we went to the ND de Marceille in Limoux. It was a beautiful day. With bright sunlight, huge trees and long shadows. Look at the light touching my friend Val. Inside the basilica we looked at the new Black Madonna. And I gazed in surprise at the new nameplates under the statues stand next to Jesus on the cross. Where it now said St Jean, I always understood that Mary Magdalene was standing there. As she so often is, standing at the right side of the cross when looking at Jesus. Now there was St Jean. I don’t know. For me is it still Mary Magdalene, and a pregnant Mary Magdalene at that. On the other side of the cross now is a nameplate with Ste Madeleine on it. It doesn’t fit. On the left side is always the Virgin Mary, Mother Mary. Besides this woman is wearing a scarf, as Mother Mary does and looks much older, as Mother Mary does. See {PIC’s 12 – 23}.

Orbs

Uitgeverij Aspekt in Soesterberg, Holland, my ‘personal’ publisher, has agreed to publish two more of my books. A cooking book for men, for gentlemen. Men who want to have some fun in their own house, who want to create something, who want to learn something, who want to have a hobby, who want to have some more social contacts. And a book about Orbs, an e-book, about the evolution of Orbs. With some crazy pictures. I showed you some in my last newsletter and I will show some more pictures now. It goes on and on. Bringing the total of my published books in Dutch, officially, meaning by a respectful Dutch publisher, on ten books! See {PIC 24 – 28}.

Elne and Collioure

Whenever my dear friend Door is here, we go out in the country. Touring. Visiting the places that I think she will like. And visiting new places. There is always something new. Look at what we have done in just a few days!

First going to the Gorges de Galamus, where a very strong wind was blowing. Then to Elne, just south of Perpignan. The ancient capital of the Roussillon, with its beautiful cathedral and abbey, its strange faces at the Last Supper, where again the person sitting next to Jesus is clearly a woman. See the curious tableau where Jesus is laid down, with all the faces hacked away. And the strict Black Madonna and the beautiful lamp. Then on to Collioure, always an adventure. And almost always good weather. The beautiful church at the entrance to the harbour, with this partly hidden wooden panel of Mary Magdalene in the cave. And of course the restaurants, the shops and the ice cream parlours! See {PIC’s 29 – 38}.

Millau, Saugues, Le-Puy-en-Velay

The area between Le-Puy-en-Velay and Clermont-Ferrand, the Ardeche and the Haute-Loire, has always been a very inviting area. The old heart of France. The sacred area of the Druids. The feminine centre of France. The area where the Black Madonna’s are plentiful. Magic. And the first magical experience is without doubt the fantastic ‘floating’ bridge of Millau. One of the new wonders of the world. Then away from the AutoRoute to Saugues. With its museum of the famous wolf of Gevaudan. And a large wooden statue, looking more like a crocodile than a wolf. There was snow and ice on the high land of France, all above 1.000 metres. We passed some incredible stone formations en route. Magic again. And finally arrived in Le-Puy-en-Velay, a five to six hour drive from Rennes-le-Chateau. Le-Puy-en-Velay is a beautiful town. Enclosed by high mountains that lie in a great circle around the place. One of the four starting points of the pilgrim route to Compostella. A place with churches high on the rock, with huge statues of the Virgin Mary, the Notre Dame de France, with a lovely old town and a beautiful cathedral. See {PIC’s 39 – 46}.

La Chaise Dieu, La Chapelle Geneste, Brioude

There is so much to be seen that it is best to stay for a few days in the area. We didn’t have so much time so we selected the best places. First of all La Chaise Dieu, a huge church and Abbey. Know for its famous tapestry and beautiful statues. So detailed, so passionate. Next we went to the little chapel in La Chapelle Geneste. My favourite church. In a little village, in the woods away from the main roads. A sleepy village, with an incredible beautiful Black Madonna. And the chapel is always open. We stayed here for a while and took several pictures. The light was good, the atmosphere was good, a sacred place. The en route over small mountain roads to Brioude. Where we had a magic lunch. Yes these things exist as well! The cathedral was a beauty. Huge, wonderful stones, statues and colours. What a joy. We even saw a smiling Madonna with child. Pretty rare in churches. And Door had this curious affection for doors! Strange isn’t it? See {PIC’s 47 – 60}.

Various

Joke shop La Renaissance in Quillan has opened its doors again. The shop will be open from Wednesday to Saturday. And is more beautiful than ever.

It is always good to walk a little, stretch our legs. What better way than to go to the natural Labyrinth of Nebias. And then visit the earth gate positioned by Saskia Bosman near Montsegur. Roquefixade is a lovely little village. With a beautiful fountain, its Cathar castle high on the hill and it s dove.

The market in Esperaza has become a real tourist attraction. And rightly so. It is so cosy, so natural, so pleasant. And everything is hand made or home made. People exchange news and drink a cup of coffee. Magic, again.

And of course we go to Rennes-le-Chateau. To the Tour Magdala, to the parking place enjoying the most beautiful view in France. To the garden of Sauniere with Maria of Lourdes. And of course to the church itself where Asmodeus was enjoying a bit of sunlight.

Finally, back to La Source where two of our esteemed guests were looking at Mary Magdalene in the bark of the old, black poplar tree. See {PIC’s 61 – 70}.

Hello Jaap, I really enjoy your newsletters and hope you will continue with them. I've visited the South of France a few times and many of the places you speak of are very familiar to me. I even visited Les Labadous briefly in Sept 2012 and met you, but only for a few moments. Reading your newsletters helps me stay connected with a land that feels so much like home. Thank you for all of your hard work and for all of the magical pictures. With much love to you, Zia
