Around Rennes-le-Château

In the area around Rennes-le-Château we will visit Rennes-les-Bains with its hot springs, its Fauteuil du Diable, the Cercle Spring, its Trembling Rocks, the Source Madeleine, the Fontaine des Amours, and its lovely square with an Italian restaurant and a café. In the summer music will be played there and people will be dancing.

We can make a short trip to Montferrand which lies halfway up to he magic mountain Pech Cardou and we can climb that mountain. A female mountain they say.

In Alet-les-Bains we will also go to the fresh water spring. And if we are lucky we can go and swim in the swimming pool fed by spring water. We will go to the abbey, one of the most beautiful ruins in France, to the church and the palace of the bishop, located in a garden with beautiful trees, where a good restaurant can be found. Or we can have a pick-nick on the isle in the middle of the Aude River. We can visit the house where Nostradamus stayed and look at the statue of Diana. We can even pay a visit to the magical church of St Salvayre, high up on the hill east of Alet-les-Bains.

In Bugarach we will visit the magic church with its strange stained glass windows. And look in awe at that magic mountain the Pech Bugarach. A male mountain they say with strange faces and images in that fearsome rock. The mountain that houses a UFO base as some people say. We can walk the Sentier Carthare for a few hundred meters and take a swim in the artificial lake at the foot of the mountain. Or we can climb the mountain but that will take at least two hours, more likely three just to get to the top. We could walk back from Bugarach to Rennes-les-Bains. It is called the magical path and runs along the right side of the River Blanque.
